Hey Reader,
I’m worried.
Blame it on the pandemic, too much “screen time”, or maybe the educational system... A lot of people are walking around with an invisible "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging around their neck.
The crazy part is, THEY put it there.
We’ve stopped ‘talking’ to each other!
“Introvert” is a label, not a life sentence.
Here's the thing about being "shy" or "introverted", those words have somehow turned into “permanent personality” diagnoses.
Like it's etched on a nameplate on your desk.
But “labels” have expiration dates, and this one's been expired for a while.
If “expressing yourself” feels scary…
Good news!
You don't need a “personality transplant”.
You just need small, deliberate reps.
Think of it like going to the gym — except instead of bicep curls, you're doing "Conversation curls."
Start by volunteering to speak first in a team meeting.
Sounds terrifying, but once you do it, your inner critic loses its VIP access.
Strike up a short conversation at the coffee shop with whoever's waiting next to you.
Ask one question at the next event you attend, even if your voice shakes a little.
Join a class. Cooking, book club, anywhere where the shared activity hands you a conversation starter on a silver platter.
Try something wildly outside your comfort zone… Improv… a dance class!
Those little reps stack up quietly, like compound interest.
The ‘shell’ doesn't crack all at once. It chips away, piece by piece, until one day you realize YOU’RE the person in the room people actually lean in to hear.
That's when “Vocal Confidence” stops being a concept and starts being your actual superpower.
The absolute fastest way to improve is to “Record yourself”… a lot!

And if you're a business leader, podcaster, or event host who's ready to take that confidence from the coffee line to the conference room or microphone, that's exactly where I come in. We should talk.
Stellar Quotes
“The human brain starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you stand up to speak in public.”
George Jessel

We got in trouble over this stunt…
The San Diego Police Department wasn't exactly thrilled with us that morning.
But let's back up.
Back in my Morning show days, having a helicopter wasn't just cool.
It was a weapon.
Most stations cut corners with a light plane for traffic reports, but not us.
Our chopper could land right in our studio parking lot.
One phone call and “Captain Bob” (the first helicopter pilot for the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, by the way) was skids down and ready to roll.
We dreamed up a contest for front-row seats to one of the biggest concerts of the year. Think Taylor Swift, but two decades earlier and with arguably just as much fanatic energy.
We told listeners to meet at a downtown intersection with signs, costumes, and whatever else they had to prove their devotion. (we hadn't told the SDPD)
We'd "judge" from the air around 8:00 AM.
What showed up was chaos. Glorious, beautiful, slightly illegal chaos.
Streets packed. Hundreds of fans… many of whom apparently thought…
"Less clothing equals better chances of winning concert tickets."
Costumes everywhere. TV crews wanting interviews.
The police department wanting a very different kind of conversation.
We landed back at the studio to find the general manager waiting.
Spoiler: that's never a good sign, Reader.
TV stations wanted to interview us… a good thing.
So did the Police Department… NOT a good thing!
But here's the thing: we knew how to hold an audience.
From the first tease at 6:00 AM to the helicopter flyover to the chaos below, people were locked in. That's not luck. That's craft.
Knowing how to grab attention, keep people engaged, and leave them wanting more is exactly what separates a good podcast or event from a great one.
That's what we’ll dig into during a free fifteen-minute “One on One with Royce” session.
Book yours below and let's figure out what's missing.
